| Points 3. Suwannakhuha Cave Temple. This is a small, isolated limestone mountain located in a flat area. To the east and south is the Tham Canal, which flows into Phang Nga Bay. It has steep cliffs and a large cave within Permian-age limestone. The cave entrance displays dolomite rock, with a surface cracked like elephant skin, approximately 250-280 million years old. Stalactites and stalagmites are found throughout, some areas even showing drapery formations protruding from the cave walls. Suwannakhuha Cave comprises nine smaller caves. It attracts many foreign tourists. There is a ticket booth and signs prohibiting inappropriate attire. Fluorescent lighting has been installed in the main cave, the bright cave, and the dark cave. Some parts of the cave have been modified with concrete flooring. | |
